BASKETE book

Basketball Legends

It was Wilt Chamberlain.

Despite the fact that Chamberlain played during a period in which post basketball legends players were substantially smaller and basketball did not attract the kinds of athletic wonders that we see today, the guy was so unbelievably dominant that he merits a spot in the top five regardless of the setting in which he played. It is Chamberlain who holds the four highest single-season scoring averages in NBA history. These averages were all achieved by Chamberlain in his first four professional seasons. When he scored an incredible 100 points in a single game on March 2, 1962, he established a new NBA record that is highly unlikely to be surpassed. This is the most noteworthy of his scoring accomplishments. Chamberlain was the only person to score more points per game than Bill Russell (22.9), and he also averaged more minutes played per game than any other player in the history of the league (45.8).
